The Mighty Prado 250

The buzz around the new Prado 250 has all the markings of the old rivalry of Ford and Holdens back in the day. People with passion for other brands cannot dismiss the fact that Toyota has created a potential monster that will dominate the market for the next decade.

The distinctive styling will be sure to polarise some buyers you either love it or not. The external styling and Interior design is next level.

Value and styling aside lets address the elephant - the back - why? what were they thinking? After thought? We do agree that the back door hides a monstrosity that will continue to be debated but for obvious reasons we think it is a good thing!

We have developed our INFINITY removable system to a Floor and Side Wing Kit system to suit the Prado 250 and will release all the options and details in the new year.

We have seen a lot of posts and Youtube content popping up about warranty being effected by seat removal / false floor installation. We have had lots of experience in this area with several other brand makes and models and can say that warranty is not a problem if the device fitted does not cause the defect. each state has its own rules regarding seat removal. Some states are ok as long as the fitting is deemed not permanent and can be reversed with out modification to the vehicle. See the link below for South Australia DIT - check your local area for details relevant to you.

Extract from the DIT site above is as below:

Temporary removal of seats

Many 4WD owners who use their vehicles for holidays and camping sometimes would like to use the rear space of their 4WDs for camping equipment or for extra luggage room. Therefore it would be useful to temporarily remove the rear most seats in the vehicle.

If the removal of seats is temporary DIT does not need to be advised, and no seating inspection is required.

If the seat cannot be returned to its original position because of the permanent removal of an anchorage point, then a seating inspection is required and Service SA will need to be notified of the change.

The temporary removal of seats in vehicles in particular to 4WD's with rear seats for seven or eight passengers, is permissible providing that:

  • when removing rear seats that no tools or only simple tools are required

  • no seat, seat belt or child restraint anchorages are removed or modified and no modification has been made to the seating capacity

  • there are no structural modifications involved and there is no change in the vehicle's registration category.

As we get closer to the release of our product range for the Prado 250 we will provide specifications and more content - please feel free to comment and make some suggestions
