Finally a Proper Spot for Levels and Straightedges: Drawer Top Shelving

Levels and straightedges are tools many tradies carry every day, but finding a proper spot for them in a work van can be surprisingly awkward.

We have always looked for a better way to store these long tools. This Lawson Automotive drawer-top shelving setup offers a practical solution: a dedicated top shelf that carries levels and straightedges lengthways, with access through the rear doors.

Finally, a proper spot for long tools

The top shelf makes use of the space above the main shelving, giving levels and straightedges their own storage positions. Instead of working around loose tools on the load deck, you can organise them alongside the rest of your equipment.

As the photos show, the tools sit lengthways in the shelving bay, with their ends accessible at the rear. You can slide a level out when you need it and return it to the same spot when the job is finished.

Make the space above your drawers work harder

The long-tool shelf forms part of a drawer-top shelving layout, with storage underneath for other work gear. It brings together drawer storage, shelving and a dedicated place for awkward equipment in one organised area of the van.

Our Drawer Top Shelving is built to suit your van, drawer system and available space. We confirm your vehicle, wheelbase, fitting position, dimensions and shelf layout before manufacture.

Plan around the equipment you actually carry

If levels and straightedges are part of your daily kit, tell us their lengths and sizes when planning your shelving. We can discuss a top-shelf arrangement to suit your tools and the available room in your van.

The setup shown is an example of a configured shelving layout. The drawer system is separate, and the final shelf arrangement and any accessories are confirmed before manufacture.
