Toyota HiAce with two side-access drawers extended beneath a carpeted loading deck

HiAce Four-Drawer Fitout | Rear and Sliding-Door Access

This Toyota HiAce fitout from the Lawson workshop archive brings together four storage drawers, access from two parts of the van and a flat carpeted loading deck above.

Two drawers open from the rear, while another two open through the passenger sliding door. It is a practical layout for a work van where equipment needs to be organised and accessible without unloading everything from the back.

Two drawers at the rear

The rear drawers provide separate storage compartments beneath the deck. Both can be extended from the tailgate opening, bringing their contents out where they are easier to see and reach.

The divided compartments help give tools, fittings and smaller equipment their own place, rather than leaving them loose across the van floor.

Two drawers through the sliding door

The passenger-side drawers make another part of the storage accessible directly from the sliding door. Frequently used equipment can be kept near this opening, with other gear stored in the rear drawers.

Having two access points gives you more choice about where to keep equipment and which part of the van to open during the workday.

A usable loading deck above

With the drawers closed, the carpeted deck provides a clear surface above the storage system. This keeps the drawer contents organised underneath while retaining loading space for larger items.

Lift-out access around the wheel arches

The deck includes lift-out sections around the wheel arches. These provide access to the spaces beneath without removing the complete drawer system.

Plan a similar HiAce fitout

These photographs show a previous Lawson Automotive build. We can discuss a similar four-drawer configuration for your HiAce, with the layout and fitment confirmed for your vehicle before manufacture.

Start with your vehicle model, the equipment you carry and whether rear or sliding-door access matters most. We can then help plan the drawer layout and the loading space you need above it.
