Prado 250 Storage: Planning Drawers, Fridge Access And Underfloor Power

A useful Prado 250 touring layout starts with more than a drawer choice. Confirm the original seating, decide how you want to open the fridge, and plan access to the equipment beneath the floor before choosing the modules above it.

This guide covers the decisions behind a build. For the range overview, see Lawson Automotive’s Prado 250 systems.

1. Does the original five-seat or seven-seat configuration matter?

Yes. The Prado 250 INFINITY Premium False Floor has separate factory five-seat and factory seven-seat options. Choose the vehicle’s original configuration, not simply the number of seats currently fitted.

For the seven-seat floor installation, the third-row seats are removed before fitting. If you still need those seats for passengers, discuss that requirement before ordering rather than assuming they can remain usable beneath a touring system. Seat-removal approval or registration requirements need to be checked separately for your vehicle and location.

2. How should I plan around factory power and underfloor access?

The Australian Prado 250 uses Toyota’s 48V V-Active system, as listed in Toyota’s current specifications. That factory system and a touring auxiliary-power system are different parts of the planning discussion. Choose a vehicle-specific floor and power arrangement; do not assume an LC300 underfloor layout transfers unchanged to a Prado.

Lawson Automotive’s Prado 250 floor has one lift-out access panel on the passenger side, with no driver-side access panel. When planning the drawers, fridge and loose cargo above it, ask how the panel will be reached and which removable module needs to come out for access. That is worth settling before the vehicle is packed for a trip.

The Prado-specific floor is the starting point. Confirm seating and passenger-side access before selecting the modules above it.

3. Should I choose a portable fridge on a slide or a drawer fridge?

Start with the way you want to use it. A portable top-opening fridge on a High Deck Slide brings the fridge out towards you. Check its full external dimensions, lid-opening space and the height you can comfortably reach, not just its litre capacity.

A drawer fridge opens from the rear without lifting a top lid. The Prado 250 Bushman 30-litre installation walkthrough shows that approach with a hutch and storage drawer. It is a build example, not a guarantee that another 30-litre fridge has identical dimensions.

A fridge hutch adds a surface above the fridge, but its uprights also use width. A fridge that fits a slide may need a wider layout once the hutch is included. Check both 50/50 and 60/40 options in the fridge-fit calculator, including the hutch setting. Hutches are built to order and dimensions are checked against your fridge before manufacture. The preview is a planning aid, not final fitment approval.

4. What changes between PowerDeck Alpha 105 and Alpha 210?

Both are complete vehicle-specific powered floors, rather than just a loose battery to add to the plain floor price. The current Prado options pair lithium storage with REDARC Alpha50 charging and a prepared vehicle loom.

Prado 250 powered-floor options, checked 19 October 2026
Option Battery capacity Complete floor weight, approximate Price including GST
PowerDeck Alpha 105, Prado 250 105 Ah 33.2 kg $3,490
PowerDeck Alpha 210, Prado 250 210 Ah 41.1 kg $4,490

Those weights include the floor, battery, charging system and vehicle loom. Drawers, slides, wings, fridge, carried equipment and optional compressor or inverter are additional. The 210 provides more stored capacity, but a runtime promise needs your actual fridge consumption, other loads and charging pattern. These component figures are not a loaded-vehicle payload assessment.

5. What should I send before the layout is finalised?

  • Your Prado’s year, grade and original five- or seven-seat configuration.
  • Fridge make, exact model and external dimensions, including any cover you intend to use.
  • Whether you want top-opening or drawer-fridge access, a hutch and a level surface above.
  • The equipment you want to power and how long you usually stay parked between charging opportunities.
  • A photo of the cargo area and details of any existing battery, charger or storage equipment.

Use the INFINITY Kit Builder with Prado 250 selected to explore the options, then send the proposed combination to Lawson Automotive for vehicle-specific confirmation. The Australian Made system is manufactured in Adelaide, with national shipping available.
